Sorry E, he kinda has a point. There's a long history behind calling Black people "monkeys" or "apes". All it does is dredge up horrible memories of past racism.
Now, if you really want to Photoshop Obama, here is what you should do. Exaggerate his ears! They're huge! Now THAT would be funny! Those pictures of Bush with elf ears made me laugh too. Or superimpose Obama's face into a Will Smith or Denzel Washington movie poster. That would be funny, and a way to counter the Democrat's way of comparing Cheney to Star Wars and Darth Vader.
You see, you do not have to be hurtful, offensive and downright racist to have political fun.
